From the Nua Desk, with love

2 Mins read

It’s been a few years since the birth of the Nua blog and we are so grateful to you, whether you’re a brand new reader or you’ve been around since day 1. When we choose topics to write about, we’re always thinking about you – Will you like it? Does it matter to your life? Our dedicated team of writers and experts spend hours to make sure the content we produce is useful, helpful, and reliable. To put it simply, we approach it as if we’re having a conversation with a friend in our living room!

Here on the Nua blog, we think around you. We focus on the physical, mental and emotional experience of women through various stages. We have big dreams of making this site and this community as inclusive  and engaged as possible. Your stories and experiences help us understand you better, and that gives us the chance to create better content for you.

By no means however do we want this to be a one-sided relationship. So we’re going to tell you a little about what we have been doing and from where we have been doing it. Might sound like a bad word!

WFH.

Work. From. Home.

Let’s all take a collective breath and allow ourselves to let this sink in… it’s been 6 months since the world came to a standstill. The coronavirus pandemic has been challenging for so many people and families who are going through life altering events. While we are lucky that we are at least able to work from home, we shouldn’t feel bad to acknowledge that there has been a shift in patterns and routines – all the while trying to digest that the world as we know it, is changing.

To say we’re living in stressful times might be the understatement of the century, and it’s tempting to think of stress reduction in terms of a task – like getting a massage or going on a road trip. But it’s the small things that make a difference.

What’s really helped us as a team is finding ways to bond, even though we’re scattered all over the country. Everyone started off feeling shy, but now our cameras are always on during every video call. It doesn’t matter that we’ve changed from one set of pajamas into the other, we’re just happy to see our colleagues’ faces! Instead of jumping right into business, we also take the time to check in. Asking how their weekend was, even though they probably did nothing exciting, goes a long way. We’ve also had fun team challenges and a virtual comedy night! Thank God for Google Hangouts and Zoom (and thank God for co-workers who have cute pets and children who make guest appearances every so often). We’re lucky to be living in a time with technology that allows us to experience lunchtime with our colleagues as we always did. Minus the yummy canteen food, of course.

So, the big thing we’ve learned is the value and importance of communication. Which is the very thing that inspired this new series.

Starting this month, we’re giving you something new – a note from our team. On the first of every month, you can expect to see a post like this on the blog. We hope you enjoy getting an insight into Nua and what we’re creating, because you make up every part of it.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please don’t hesitate to write to us – there’s a real human who will always be ready with a response! Until then, I’m really happy you are here and I want to thank you for being a part of this community. I, personally, am already looking forward to our next letter in October.

With love,

Head of Community
